Mission and Guiding Principles
Mission Statement:
Polar Bears International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the worldwide conservation of the polar bear and its habitat through research and education. We provide scientific resources and information on polar bears and their habitat to all interested parties.
Vision Statement:
To be recognized globally as the preeminent resource for polar bear information and education, and to have had a measurable impact on the preservation of polar bear habitat by 2014.

- The Board of Directors is made up of individuals with no financial interest that would benefit from involvement with PBI so as to eliminate any perceived or actual conflict of interest.
- Board members do not receive any compensation or expense reimbursement.
- Gift shop profits help cover PBI's low overhead.
Goals
- To be a key educational resource on polar bears and their habitat worldwide.
- To be a key resource for scientific research that will help conserve the world's polar bears.
- To develop strong communications that represent PBI as a key resource for information on polar bears.
- To create an organization that is internationally inclusive in scope and that promotes teamwork.
- To be fiscally responsible and to maximize the return on investment in all programs.
Research Projects
Polar Bears International works with the world's leading polar bear scientists on research projects that benefit the world's polar bears.
Educational Efforts
Polar Bears International's wide range of educational projects inspire, inform, and empower people to make a difference by reducing carbon emissions and motivating others to do the same.
Polar Bear Sustainability Alliance
Polar Bears has assembled a team to develop contingency plans to assist wildlife management authorities as the Arctic continues to warm. Scenarios include rescuing orphaned cubs, reducing human-bear conflicts as the bears are driven ashore, and helping malnourished bears through supplemental feeding protocols.
