Shark Week, Schmark Week! You’ve no doubt heard of our International Polar Bear Day on February 27th, a day of action on climate change.
Well, this year—for the first time ever—we’re launching a Polar Bear Week in conjunction with the live broadcasts of the polar bear migration from Churchill, Manitoba, with our partners explore.org and Frontiers North Adventures. The idea is simple: to turn the non-stop, live coverage of the polar bears’ wait for freeze-up into an annual global event focused on the threats polar bears face in one of Earth’s most fragile ecosystems.
The kick-off is November 12th and media around the world will showcase the event, drawing attention to the Polar Bear Cam and the plight of polar bears in a warming world.
We’re inviting you to join in by:
- Watching the Polar Bear Cam for inspiration
- Sharing the cam link
- Taking part in our My Planet, My Part online community, where you can commit to reducing your carbon footprint, share photos and ideas, and connect in our forums with like-minded people around in the world.
Momentum is building for action on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Thank you for doing your part by becoming part of the solution!
