The Toledo Zoo's playful cub has a name: Siku! It means "ice" in the Iupiat language. More than 80 school children from Alaska's North Slope Borough took part in a contest to name the young cub. The Zoo's contest was held in conjunction with Polar Bears International® (PBI), WWF, & the North Slope Borough Department of Wildlife Management. All are members of the PBI Polar Bear Sustainability Alliance.
Our special thanks to Canada Goose for donating parkas to the winner and two runners up.
