Polar Bear Scientists Question Nunavut Decision

Polar bear populations are threatened by climate change and will not be able to adapt quickly enough to the rapid warming taking place, scientists with the IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group say. The group issue a statement questioning Nunavut's decision to reverse its position in favor of listing the polar bear as threatened under Canada's Species of Risk Act. The listing is warranted, says Dr. Andrew Derocher, professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta and a member of the PBI Scientific Advisory Council.
