Holly Fowler

Holly Fowler is the co-founder of Northbound Ventures, LLC, a sustainability firm specializing in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and change management for organizations within the energy, water, waste, food and public health nexus.

Holly formerly served as the Senior Director of Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility for Sodexo North America, one of the world’s largest providers of contracted management services. From 2008-2013, she led the company's initiatives to define and to deliver sustainable food service and facilities management to 6,500 client locations encompassing businesses, health care institutions, colleges, universities, public and private schools, government agencies, museums, zoos, and aquariums. Those efforts included development and deployment of best practices for carbon and energy reduction, water conservation, waste minimization, sustainable food and materials sourcing, and client engagement. As part of that work, Holly also designed and facilitated 20 major sustainability seminars to accelerate awareness and action by thousands of managers, clients, and suppliers alongside community advocacy groups, NGOs, health professionals, academics, scientists, public officials, policy makers, media, and others positioned to lead and to influence meaningful, measurable change. She has collaborated with Ceres, the US Green Building Council, WWF, ACUPCC, Health Care Without Harm, FairTrade USA, Rainforest Alliance, World Forestry Center, Marine Stewardship Council, Trinity River Audubon Society, Living Lands and Waters, and numerous others.

Holly previously served as the Director of Sodexo’s Global Education Market, where she led the effective coordination, development, and adaptation of programs for 80 international affiliates and managed three major international summits on environmental sustainability and public health.

As a result of her experience, Holly is the co-author of two pioneer business cases on developing corporate sustainability strategy and leadership and a contributor to various publications and studies addressing the business case for sustainability, innovative employee engagement, and energy efficiency. Her expertise has been featured frequently at industry conferences and events produced by FORTUNE Brainstorm Green, GreenBiz, Net Impact, CleanMed, the Environmental Protection Agency, and EMPRETEC Brazil.

Holly was recognized as a Distinguished National Leader by Net Impact in 2009 and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Net Impact Boston.

Holly holds an A.B. in French and European History from Bowdoin College, an M.B.A. from Babson College in sustainable entrepreneurship, and a Professional Certificate in Sustainable Food Systems Leadership from the University of Vermont.

Holly lives in Somerville, Massachusetts with her husband, but they can most likely be found hiking, kayaking, backcountry skiing, or otherwise adventuring.
