Maggie was our earliest case, occurring in 1974 before dynamic compression plates had come of age in veterinary medicine. In this decade, the most appropriate therapy for Maggie’s injury was a full-limb Plaster of Paris cast with an integrated wire mesh. Unfortunately, Maggie didn’t really like her cast very much and destroyed it within the first 48 hours. She then was confined to a small pen for 3 months after which she returned to the exhibit. She made a complete recovery.
