2 months post-op, Sila was moved to a small pen where she remained until being returned to the exhibit 1.5 months later.
Ultimately, Sila was moved with her twin brother to Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. In spite of adequate fracture healing, she was intermittently lame in the right forelimb with decreased supination and pronation. The lameness was attributed to questionable elbow subluxation possibly due to overgrowth of the radius resulting from synostosis of the radius and ulna. Synostosis is the osseus union of two bones that aren’t supposed to be united.
