Notes:
Our second case is Bob, a one-year-old male from Buffalo Zoo. He was found non-weight-bearing lame in the right forelimb. Physical examination revealed crepitus and abnormal movement in the mid-right antebrachium. Radiographs revealed these fractures. Bob’s fractures were repaired by internal fixation using double plating and cerclage wires.
RADIUS - complete and comminuted moderately displaced medial to lateral short-obliqued fracture of proximal diaphysis with a large cranial and medial butterfly fragment;
ULNA - mid-diaphyseal fracture moderately displaced, comminuted, cranial to caudal obliqued with a cranial butterfly fragment
RADIUS: 12-hole, 4.5mm broad DCP on cranial surface with (11) 4.5mm cortical screws and (1) 6.5mm cancellous screw; butterfly fragment reduced and secured with two 18g cerclage wires at proximal and distal aspect of fragment;
ULNA: 7-hole, 4.5mm narrow DCP on caudolateral aspect with 4.5mm cortical screws
