My name is Lynda Bongelli and I am a zookeeper at the Toronto Zoo. I have worked with a wide variety of animals. A few years ago I became the cheetah breeding coordinator for the Toronto Zoo and started up the breeding program as we had not had successful breeding in several years. As a result we had four cubs born two years ago and breeding continues now.
The Toronto Zoo has opened a new tundra exhibit including polar bears, arctic wolves and reindeer. Recently, I was transferred to this new area to work with the polar bears and start up a training and enrichment program. I think it will be a great benefit to attend the Polar Bears International Leadership Camp. Hopefully I will gain more knowledge about the polar bears and their status in the wild, how climate change will affect them, and what we can do to help them. With this knowledge I will be able to pass along this information to the public and hopefully make a difference and possibly change some people's ideas so that they can make a difference.
