This week-long camp is a joint program between PBI and the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK). It brings together a motivated group of keepers who help us reach a wide audience with our conservation message. They inspire their public to pitch in to reduce carbon emissions.
About Keeper Camp:
- Participating zookeepers are affiliated with PBI Arctic Ambassador Centers or the AAZK
- Designed to inform, inspire, and empower keepers with information and tools to motivate their constituents
- Focused on communication and presentation skills, planning, and program execution especially with regard to global warming and its effects on polar bears
- Enhances professional skills
- Promotes networking with peers and develops team skills
Keepers report on their experience in their group blog. Before returning home, the group creates a forward action plan to reduce C02 in their communities. Past participants developed—and continue to participate in—the Acres for the Atmosphere program, a roll-up-your-sleeves tree-planting and educational effort.
