Polar Bear Forest • Model of Collaboration

The connection may not seem obvious at first, but planting trees can help save polar bear habitat. PBI and our partners planted our first Polar Bear Forest® in Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeast Wisconsin in April 2010. Our goal is to plant 500,000 acres of trees in ten years and clear the atmosphere of tons of CO2. Your DONATION can make that happen.

Here's what it's all about.
Polar Bear Forest is a collaboration of PBI, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and tthe American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK). The project combines educational efforts, fundraising, teamwork, and all the physical and managerial aspects of planting healthy forests. You can learn all the details at PBI Polar Bear Forest FAQs.

Will you help? Your DONATION to Polar Bear Forest will go directly toward land cultivation and tree planting. You'll breathe easier knowing you may have given a polar bear a chance to hunt a few days longer this year. Because the more carbon dioxide we extract from the atmosphere, the more we can slow down global warming. And the more we do that, the more likely it is that the sea ice will be stronger and last longer each season. Honest—you can make a difference.

Who's doing what?  •  PBI, in coordination with WDNR, is providing educational information and material to explain the way trees reduce carbon in the atmosphere and discuss the benefits of tree planting for communities. PBI is helping raise funds for the project.  •  WDNR's role is to provide the land, the nursery stock, and to manage the project using sustainable forest management principles.  •  And AAZK, through its creative Trees for You and Me fund-raising competition, will also provide funding.
