How does this contest help polar bears?
It challenges everyone to reduce carbon emissions in their home communities. Why CO2? The build-up of this greenhouse gas has led to dramatic changes in polar bear habitat. The Arctic is warmer now. The sea ice is melting. And polar bears need the sea ice to hunt seals. By cutting carbon emissions, we can help save polar bears for future generations.
Besides helping polar bears, what are the rewards?
The highest-scoring team and their adult advisor win spots in PBI Teen Leadership Camp in Churchill, Manitoba, polar bear capital of the world, where they'll see wild polar bears up close and personal. The two honorable mention teams and their adult advisor win a trip to San Diego, California, and special tours of the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld San Diego.

What if we miss the registration period?
You can sign up the following year if you're still 14 to 17. In the meantime, the polar bears still need your help. Here are some ideas:
- Become educated about the topic. Spend some time on PBI’s website, particularly watch the videos about climate change and about polar bears in a warming world. Get your school involved in our Tundra Connections broadcasts. Truly understand the science so you can tell others.
- Invite others to join you. Go ahead and get a group of friends together and do a conservation action. The most impactful are those that save energy in our homes or are about transportation. Minor changes make a big difference. One of our newsletters includes a great challenge with solutions.
- Do a fundraiser for PBI. PBI is a not-for-profit, solely focused on being a champion for polar bears. We work to provide educational resources, support research and promote stewardship. Help us by instead of getting birthday gifts this year, adopt a polar bear and have your friends make a donation to PBI. These little gifts of financial support do make a difference.
- Stay in touch. We want to hear about your successes and share them with the world. It will motivate and inspire others to do the same. Contact us through email at info@polarbearsinternational.org.
