At the beginning of October, things were really getting revved up for the Earth Event at Whole Life Center. Jacob and the teen group at the center had been working for several weeks on ideas and ways that the teens at the center could be involved. He had also met with some of the center's staff to discuss the details for the event.
Because of the huge amount of interest in the community
there would be no way to accommodate all the people we expect to attend. Therefore we decided to change the the before-event from being a formal dinner, to an hors d'oeuvres gathering in the Lake View House (a small house next to the center owns next door). We had numerous members of the congregation step forward and offer to prepare the food which was entirely organic.
On October 11th, the teen group at the center, along with Jacob and Sierra, met for a research party. The teens from the center were preparing for a small presentation which they would be giving during the event. We researched everything from ways to reduce CO2 at the center, to how to lower the center's impact on the local streams and forests. The end result was a wonderful presentation that the teens finalized at a later date. We also started putting up posters around town advertising the event.
The center had completely taken off with the event. Everyone was getting excited. We couldn't wait for the night to come.
