Hello everyone! 10/08/07

That day was my last day in Churchill, I felt very sad because I will miss my friends and all the people that help me in Churchill, but at the same time I felt happy because I know that I will work hard trying to help my comunity with the climed change or world warming.

That day everyone was crying because all the students will returne to home. In the morning some students cooked a delicious food for us and when we finished the breackfast we had a meating about what we will do about climed change when we returne home. Some students were crying. In the afternoon we returned to Churchill. We went to shoping and everyone bought present for our families. Later we went Robert apartment and we had a pizza party and I took some pictures with my friends. When we fonished the pizza party we went to Churchill airopot because we flow to Winnipeg Canada and we said good bye to Robert and we thanks him for this opportunity that Robert gave us. It was really sad. Three hour later all the students and many teacher were in Winnipeg and we went to the hotel because the next day we will fligh to home and also we said good bye to many students that live in Winnipeg. In the morning I said good bye to Kathy and I said thank you too and I went to home.

I want to say thanks to everybody that helps us in this adventure and I want to say thank again to Robert for gave us this opportunity and for you friends I want to say I will miss you a lot, and I will remember you in my live.

I hope we keep in contact and for the rest of our lives we can be a family taht help and support each other with the situation we have to face with the global warming. Always in my heart.

Hello everyone! Today I had my best fun day in this adventure.

Today everything was good, the only problem that we had to cancel our presentation because we didn’t have internet. Today was our group turn to cook for our friend. That was good because we prepared some special food for everybody. In the morning we had our presentation and that was fun for me because I was Juliet and my friend Astrid was Romeo, that was so funny and everyone enjoyed it.

In the afternoon we received the information that we didn’t have the interview with the children, I felt sad because if we did that, I knew that this is more experience for us. But later we made a video for this children in when we answer many question and we game some advises about global warming and polar bears. Later we went outside in the Tundra Buggy, because we had about one day and many hours that we didn’t see polar bears. This trip was great because we saw a polar bear, it was amazing because she slept in the ground, and also we saw some birds. One hour later we went to the Tundra Buggy lodge. When we were in there, Mr. Bill showed us his power point about why polar bears are in danger. That was fabulous because everybody was talking about that and also he and us showed many great points. And in the night my group prepared a arodinner, that was really funny because we simulated that we fly on a airplane. And that was all for today.

Hoy todo fue muy bien, el unico preoblema fue que nosotros tuvimos que concelar nuesta presentacion poprque no teniamos internet. Hoy fue el dia de nuesro para cosinar para nuestros amigos. Esto fue muy bueno para nosoros porque nosotros preparamso comida especial para todos. In la manana fue nuestra presentacion y fue muy divertido porque a mi me toco ser Julieta y a mi amiga Astrid le toco ser Romeo, esto fue muy divertido y todos disfrutamos a lo grande

En la tarde nosotros resivimos la informacion de que nuestra presentacion co nlos ninos se habia cancelado, yo me senti mal porque yo e que si nosotros ubieramso obtenido mas experiensia en nuestras vidas pero no se pudo. Pero mas tarde nosotros hisimos un video en el cual les respondemos unas preguntas a los ninos a la ves les dmaos unos consejos sobre global warming y los osos polares. Mas tarde nosotrso fuimos a fuera en el Tundra Buggy, porque nosotros teniamso un dia y un oar de horas de no ver a los osos polares. Este paseo fue bonito porque pudimos ver una oso polar que estaba durmiendo en el suelo, y tambien nosotros vimos unos muy lindos pajaritos. Una hora mas tarde nosotros regresamso a el Tundra Buggy hospedaje. Cuando ya estabamos en este lugar, el senor Bill nos presento su power point que era sobre porque lso osos polares estan en peligro. Esto fue fobuloso porque el y nosotros demostramso unos puntos muy interesantes an esta discucion. Y en la noche mi grupo y yo preparamos una aerosena, esto tambien fue muy chistoso porque nosotros simulamos que estabamso bolando en un avion. Y esto fue todo por hoy.

Hello everyone!

I feel so happy because today was another day on the Tundra Buggy Lodge. That meant that I learned something new. Today was raining all day and we didn’t see polar bears.

Today everything was good because we had a presentation about polar bears and why the ice is melting in the Artic. Before that we were preparing for a presentation for an hour. It was exciting because everyone helped each other in the conversation.

After that, we had a video conference with a grade four class in Manitoba. I felt nervous, but everybody did good, and we enjoyed it. In the afternoon we had a meeting with Mr. Franck. He was the man who created the polar bear area in Denmark (the largest polar bear area in the world). Also he explained how difficult it was to open this area. He showed us many reports about this place. This video touched my heart because I saw in this video the way that the polar bears looked so happy because I saw that they swam in the pool and they played with a rock. It was impressive for me, and for Ms. Arnold, because she was crying when she saw that.

One hour later we had another presentation or discussion with Mr. Robert about many animals that live in the zoo. That was amazing because we talked about the pros and cons that these animals have. In the evening we had a great dinner that some students made for us.

Me ciento muy feliz porque hoy fue otro dia en el Tundra Buggy Lodge. Esto quiere desir que yo apredi algo nuevo. Hoy fue un dia llevioso y no vimos ningun oso polar.

Hoy todo fue muy bien porque nosotros tuvimos una presentacion sobre osos polares y porque el hielo se esta deritiendo in el Artico. Antes de esto nosotros estuvimos preparando esta presentacion por una hora, esto fue muy emosionante porque todos nos ayudamso en esta combersasion.

Despues de esto fue hora de la enrevista con niños de el cuarto grado de Manitoba, yo me senti nervios, pero todo nos salio bien a todos y a la ves nosotros disfrutamos esto. An la tarde tuvimos una secion con al señor Franck. El es el hombre que creo el lugar para los osos polares en Denmark (el area mas grande para osos polares en el mundo). Tambien el explico que dificil fue para el abrir este lugar. El nos enseño a nosotros unos reportajes sobre este lugar, estos videos tocaron mi corazon porque yo vi en estos videos o mejor dicho dicho lo que yo pense sobre esto es que los osos polares se miravan muy felices en este lugar porque ellos nadaron and la pisina que les contruyeron a ellos en este lugar y tambien ellos jugaron con una roca, fue inpresionante para mi y para la Sr. Arnold tambien porque ella lloro pero de felicidad cuando ella vio esto.

Una hora mas tarde nosotrso tuvimos otra presentacion o discucion con el señor Robert sobre algunos animals que viven en el zologico. Eso fue grandioso porque el hablo de cosas que ayudan y perjudican a estos animales. Y en la noche tuvimos una sena muy deliciosa que unos estudiantes hisieron para nosotros.

Hello everyone! Well today I have a lot of things to say about my adventure in the Tundra Buggy lodge.

Everyone woke up when Robert started to sing a special song for us. It was amazing because when he finished his song everybody started to applaud. After that we saw a polar bear that went to the Tundra Buggy lodge, it was cute because the polar bear sat down in front us and then he putted his mouth in the ground and he slept almost all day. Also today we had a trip in the Tundra Buggy. It was exciting because we saw many animals like a caribou, ptarmigans, polar bears, artic fox and muskrat. It was great because the polar bear tried to eat the muskrat, but the muskrat swam faster and he escaped. Everybody took some pictures and all the people enjoyed that.

When everybody finished that the captain told us that we will get out the buggy and get on the ground. Everybody was happy and they prepared to go outside. When we were on the ground, all of us started to take pictures in this place where the view was incredible. We studied (and played) in this area for one hour then all the people came back to the Tundra Buggy because the captain wanted a picture with everyone close to the Tundra Buggy. Then we came back to the lodge. To night was incredible because we saw the Aurora Borealis, in my opinion I have never seen something like that in my life.



Hola a todos! Bueno, hoy tengo mucho que contarles de mi aventura en el Tundra Buggy hospedaje.

Todos nos levantamos cuando Roberto comenso a cantar una cansion para nosotros. Fue grandioso, porque cuando el termino su cancion todos comensamos a aplaudir.
Despues de eso nosotros vimos un oso polar que ccamino hasta donde nosotros estabamos, fue grandioso porque el se sento y despues puso su trompa en el suelo y durmio por casi todo el dia. Fue espectacular verlo. Hoy nosotros tuvimos un paseo en el Tundra Buggy y fue muy interesante porque nosotros vimos muchos animales como un caribou, ptarmigans, osos polares, artic fox y muskrat. Esto fue muy bonito porque tuvimos una experiencia muy bonita cuando el oso polar intento comerse a la muskrat pero este animal se metio al agua y nado muy rapido y el oso polar no pudo hacer nada. Todos disfrutamos esto.

Cuando todos finalizamos de ver esto el capitan nos dijo que ibamos a bajar a la el suelo, todo el mundo estaba muy contento por esto y nos comensamos a preparar para estar afuera. Cuando estabamos abajo todos comensaron a tomar fotos y a estudiar este lugar extrano y magnificente en la playa del Bayo de Hudson, durante una hora. Despues de esto el capitan o el señor John, que es el que maneja el Tundra Buggy, dijo que queria una foto con todo el grupo a la par del Tundra Buggy. Y despues nosotros regresamos a el campamento.

Esta noche, vimos la Aurora Borealis. En mi opinión, yo nunca he visto en el cielo algo así.

Hello everybody! Today was an incredible day because today was our first day in the Tundra Buggy.

Today was an interesting day because when we woke up, we saw a polar bear. The polar bear was sleeping in the same place all day. It was cute because the polar bear had his head on his arm. Then some students went to the kitchen to make some food for everyone because in this adventure everybody cooks, my God! But it is fun, because everyone enjoys that. When all the students finished eating, we had to prepare our presentations. It was amazing to see how everybody did. My group had to speak about Indigenous Communities. My role was to read an Inuit poem and to give some examples about it. Every group worked incredibly well, because everyone used their ideas and their imagination. All the people enjoyed a lot it. When our group was presenting we were interrupted, because a polar bear came to our lodge. So that meant all the people jumped for their camera and they started to take pictures. This polar bear was hungry because he tried to eat the Tundra Buggy. Wow incredible! One hour later everybody came back to the room and we continued with our discussion. When we finished, some students and teachers congratulated us for our work. And that was all for today.

Hoy fue un incredible dia porque nomas nos levantamos pudimos apresiar unoso polar que estaba un poco lejos del camamento. El oso polar paso durmiend todo el dia en el mismo lugar. Fue interesante porque el oso polar tenia su cabeza sobre su mano. Despues de esto uns estudiantes fueron a la cosina para cosinar algo para todos prque en esta aventura todos partisipamos. Despues de terminar de comer nos tocaba organisar lo que ibamso a exponer con nuestro grupo. Anosotros nos toco hablar sobre las Comunidades Indijenas fue grandioso y mis puntos fueron un poema y desir unos ejemplos que encontramos. Cuando nosotro estbamos exponiendo nos interimpio un oso polar que si llego hasta nuestro campamento fue grandioso porque todos corrieron por sus camaras para tomarles fotos todo fue muy muy divertido. Despues de una hora de esto todos regresamos a dentro del Tundra Buggy y continuamos con la discusion todo sali muy bonito y nos felicitaron por lo que hicimos. Y por ultimo nos dieron uns presentasionn unas persnas que vivian en estas tirras tan frias y nos dieron unas explicasiones de unas pieles que ellos tenian. Y eso fue todo por hoy

(Hoy, mi companera de escrito fue Ronit)

Hola los saludamos los abordantes del Tundra Buggy!

Hoy va a hacer un dia muy importante para nosotros porque hoy comiensa el viaje en el Tundra Buggy, eso quiere decir que de hoy no volveremos a poner un pie en tierra hasta dentro de 7 dias.

Nosotros comenzamos el dia visitando en donde tienen a los osos polars que llegan al centro de la ciudad en Churchill. Ese es un medio que ellos utilisan para que las personas que viven aqui no tengan ningun problema. Fue grandioso porque nosotros vimos las jaulas que ellos utilisan para transporter estos animals a su habitat aqui en Canada. Cuando hay seis-nueve osos, los transportan por helicoptero a un punto muy afuera del pueblo de Churchill. Alla, los osos esperan hasta el Hudson Bay hela. Luego nosotros continuamos nuestro camino para un antiguo laboratorio el cual ya no funciona mas. Estando en este lugar discutimos sobre unos puntos muy interesantes como que estos animals necesitan cientificos que luchen por mantenerlos y que no se extingan.

¡Despues de esto, nosotros comenzamos nuestra aventura en el Tundra Buggy! Fue magnifico cuando todos (estudiantes) abordamos el Tundra Buggy numero 15. Todos estabamos muy contentos de poder estar en esta aventura y todos queriamos ver los osos polares. Despues de una hora muy larga para nosotras vino lo mas interesante que fue comenzar a ver los animales y nuestro primer animal fue un pajaro muy bonito llamado “ptarmigan.” Todo el mundo brinco par alas camaras de video y de fotos para tomar y filmar este grandioso animal, fue muy divertido. Despues de unos 10 minutos mas tarde decidimos continuar nuestra aventura, cuando el chofer del Buggy hizo una parada y todos nos preguntamos porque. Cuando una persona grito ¡Oso polar! Wow! Fue grandioso ver como todo el mundo se volvio loco por ver a este grandioso animal. En mi opinion yo me sentia muy contento de ver este animal en su habita. Todo el mundo le tomo fotos y lo filmo hasta que el chofer dijo que teniamso que continuar y que posiblemente mirariamos a otros mas adelante. Antes de llegar a donde nos ibamos a hospedar dos mos osos polares se nos cruzaron en el camino solo que esta ves llegaron al Tundra Buggy. Todos estuvimos muy contentos de ver estos dos animales en su habita, y despues llegamos a donde queriamos llegar, el Tundra Buggy Lodge. Tuvimos una muy rica cena y despues de esto nos dirijios a dormir para mañana. Pero un oso polar nos desperto a todos porque se acerco a el campamento y todos nos pusimos a tomarle fotos y finalmente regresamos a dormir. ¡HUUUFFF que dia! ¿No?

Hello from aboard the Tundra Buggy!

Today we took our final steps on land for the next seven days. We will be living in the Tundra Buggy Lodge, which is five buggy compartments, each about ten feet off the ground. It is a different world up here, but certainly a new adventure.

We started off the day by visiting the polar bear “jail” in Churchill, which is a facility that Manitoba Conservation officers use to isolate polar bears that enter the town or cause trouble. It was reassuring to see the humane bear cage traps they use to capture the bears without having to tranquilize them first. Then we went to a polar bear testing laboratory that was used decades ago to test bears under several conditions. We discussed one prominent case where a research scientist covered polar bears in oil in order to test the effects of an oil spill on the species population. Many issues were raised including the necessity of scientists to provide research in order to support legislation for stricter shipping regulations but also the need to protect animal rights.

Finally, we embarked on our Tundra Buggy adventure! We stepped off the “launch pad” and into a buggy containing our pile of luggage and all the food supplies we will need for the next week. The first hour of our journey was rather uneventful and we saw little wildlife. However, suddenly we saw a large flock of ptarmigans. The entire group went really crazy: jumping up to click their cameras and record on their video cameras. We set off again, however, a few minutes later, the Captain stopped the buggy and pulled out his binoculars. We all wondered aloud, “Why did he stop?” Then somebody yelled, “It’s a polar bear! And a caribou!” The flurry of activity began again as we witnessed our first polar bear of the trip! It was incredible. None of us (students) had ever seen polar bears in their natural habitat before and we marveled at how different the wild bears seem from those in captivity. Again, we stopped for a long time, as pictures were snapped and movies made. But again, when we started off we were greeted with an even greater sight…two polar bears came right up to the buggy! Both bears even stood up on his hind legs against the buggy! We were ecstatic at our good fortune and spent almost half with the bears. After our cheeks were red and fingers frozen, the sun began to set and we drove to the Lodge. Settling into our bunks was an adventure in itself, as was making dinner in our new home for the next week. More to come from the Tundra Buggy….

Yesterday was a great day in my life because yesterday was the first time that I saw a Polar Bear. Also I felt happy becasue I saw other animals, like a black and white bear, camels, macaques, panthers, llama, vicung vicunga, grus japonesis, anatis, caribous, arctic fox and a lot more. The weather was spectacular because it was 64ºF. We had a discussion with Mr. Robert and Mr. Bob about the Polar Bear that is in the zoo in Winnipeg. We gave our opinion about this animal. Then we went to the hotel in Winnipeg to try to sleep for tomorrow.

Today we flew to Churchill to continue our adventure. The flight was great and I learned something important about Churchill. That was that Curchill has a lot of water on the land. When I asked why, Ms. Kathy said that in Churchill it snows a lot, so when the snow melts that produces this water. When we traveled to Churchill I was surprised because I have never seen a place like Churchill. Churchill is quiet, clean, and has great people that helped us with our bags. We took the bus, and we went to our hotel. The weather was freezing today. When we were in the hotel, we received our keys, and we were going to the room to put our bags away. Thirty minutes later we went outside because Mr. Robert said that we will get to know Churchill. Churchill is a small town with many people, also Churchill has a big river and a wharf. When we were near the river the police officer told us that a Polar Bear was close to the river. That meant that we needed to leave this place. We went to the Churchill school. This was a great place because the school has many statues about Polar Bears. The school also has a balcony when you can see the big river. Then we went to the restaurant for dinner and when everyone was finished we went to the hotel to try to sleep, but Ms. Charlotte (who is the women that helps us in our homework ) told us that in the sky you can see the aurora borealis, so everyone went outside to try to take some pictures. Finally we returned to the hotel and we tried to sleep because tomorrow I hope that we will have a great day in the Tundra Buggy.

Ayer fue un bonito dia in mi vida porque ayer fue la primera ves que mirava a un Oso Polar. Tambien me senti feliz porque yo vi otros animales como el oso negro y blando, unos macaques, unas panteras, lasmas, vivung vicunga, grus japoneses, anatis, caribous, zorroa polares y muchos mas. El clima fue grandioso porque la temperatura fue 64ºF. Nosotros tuvimos una discusion con el señor Robert y el señor Bob sobre el Oso Polare que vive en el zoologico. Nosotros mostramos nuestras opiniones sobre esta animal. Despues de esto nosotros fuimos al hotel en Winnipeg para dormir y estar listos para mañana.

Hoy nosotros volamos hacia Churchill para continuar nuestra aventura. El vuelo fue muy grandioso y yo aprendi algo sobre Churchill. Que es que en Churchill tiene mucha agua en su tierra. Cuando yo pregunte porque a la Sr. Kathy, ella dijo que en Churchill nieva mucho y que el hielo comiensa a deretirse esto produce el agua. Cuando nosotros llegamso a Churchill yo estava solprendido porque yo nunca bia visto un lugar igual a este en mi vida. Churchill es muy silencioso y a la ves limpio, y tiene unas personas muy buenas que nos ayudaron con nuestro equipaje. Nosotros abordamos un autobus, y despues nosotros fuimso a nuesto hotel. El tiempo fue muy frio hoy. Cuando nosotros estavamos en el hotel y resivimos la llave, y nosotros fuimos a nuestros cuartos a dejar nuestras maletas. Treinta minutos mas tarde nosotros fuimos afuera porque el señor Robert dijo que nosotros ibamos a conocer Churchill. Churchill es un pequeño pueblo con muy pocas personas, tambien Churchill tiene un gran rio que atraviesa Churchill y un muy bonito embarcadero. Cuando nosotros estubimos serca del el rio el uno de los comisarios que se encargan de ver a los Osos Polares nos advirtio que teniamos que dejar el lugar porque un Osos Polar estaba muy cerca de el rio. Entonces decidimos ir a la escuela de Churchill y conoseral, fue muy bonito y disfrutamos a lo grande viendo las estatuas y unas pinturas que ellos tienen para mostrar a las personas que los visitan y por ultimo un lindo balcon en el cual tu puedes mirar el rio y sin estar con el problema del frio afuera. Despues de todo esto nosotros nos direjimos a los restaurante para poder hacer la cena y poder regresar a dormir. Cuando todos terminamos de cenar el señor Robert dejo que podiamos regresar a el hotel para descansar. Cuando lla estabamos en el hotel listos para dormir la señorita Charlotte (que es la persona que nos ayuda con nuestras tareas) nos dijo que se podia apresiar en el cielo las auroras borealis, entonces todos corimos a verlas. Unos estudiantes sacaron unas magnificas fotos de esta marabilla natural yo y otros amigos no pudimos porque lastimosa mente nuestra camara no tenia el alcanse para tomar esta foto, despues de un rato todos regresamos a el hotel a descansar porque mañana yo deseo que tengamso un muy lindo dia en el Tundra Buggy.

Today we didn’t do a lot of things because it was the first day in Winnipeg. Before every thing I want to say that I had a great flight because I was reading and saw many important pictures and important points in my Polar Bears books. When I was in Minnesota I had some problems because my flight was late 15 minutes, so that means that I had to run to try to get another flight! It was hard for me because I had all my bags with me, for a moment a thought that may I will miss my flight but that didn’t happen. In 1 hour and 28 minutes later I was in Winnipeg Canada. I felt so happy when I found Ms. Carolyn and she asked me if I am Cesar. I said yes. Ms. Carolyn is a cute person, she is from USA and her husband is Mr. Robert who is the president of the Polar Bears International.

I thought that the weather will be cool, but it wasn’t like that because the weather was warm. Ms. Carolyn said is time to go to the hotel and I thought that somebody will pick up us. I was surprised because the hotel was a short walk across from the airport. When we (another artic ambassador, Emily, arrived at the same time) were in the hotel Ms. Carolyn present us to Mr. Robert, and he asked us if we are hungry. Some students said yes and we went to the restaurant in the hotel. Mr. Robert said that every time that we need some food we can go to the restaurant and we can order and he would pay for it. Wow! This adventure will be interesting - a lot food.

Mr. Robert is a joker, he makes me laugh all the time. When we finished eating Mr. Robert said that we have free time because many students look tired, so that means that we can do whatever we want except go outside the building. I found my room and also I found my roommate. His name is Connor, he is from Maryland and he is a great friend. Then we went to the first meeting with my friends and we had a presentation from the staff of Polar Bears International. We presented ourselves to everyone. It was great and also we played some funny games that Ms. Kathy had for us. And finally, we went back to our rooms at 10:30pm to sleep.

Yo voy a contarles mis experiencias que obtuve cuando yo estuve en Winnipeg Canada. Mi aventura comiensa cuando yo llegue a el aeropuerto en Winnipeg, me senti muy feliz porque yo savia que de esta aventura iba aprender muchas cosas que me servirian para mi vida. Cuando sali del aeropuerto pude ver a la Sr. Carolyn, ella es una persona muy cariñosa con todos los estudiantes que asistimos a esta aventura en Canada.
La Sr. Carolyn es de los Estados Unidos y su esposo Robert es el presidente de la organisacion de los Osos Polares. Mi primera impresión fue cuando Sr. Carolyn nos dijo a mi y a mi compañera la que venia con migo en el avion que era hora de ir a descansar al hotel, porque o pense que alguien nos iba a recoger pero el hotel esta cruzando la calle del aeropuerto fue muy impactante para mi nunca abia visto un aeropuerto con un hotel a la par. Cuando ya estabamos en el hotel Sr. Corolyn nos presento a su esposo Robert, el es una persona muy amigable y chistosa a la vez poque todo el tiempo el hace bromas con nosotros y el hace que todos nos riamos. Después de la breve charla con el señor Robert, el nos pregunto si teniamos hambre y algunos estudiantes dijieron que si, el tambien nos dijo que el hotel tenia un muy buen restaurent. Entonces nos direjimos a comer todos hablando sobre sus culturas y como era su pais. La ultima sujerensia que el nos dio fue que cada vez que tubieramos hambre podíamos legar y pedir la comida que quisieramos cantas veces quisiéramos. Mmmmm! Esta aventura va a hacer muy divertida-tenemos comida. Después de comer el señor Robert dijo que teniamos tiempo libre porque nos mirabamos cansados y que podiamos hacer lo que quisieramos excepto ir a la afuera del hotel. Cada quien busco y encontro su cuarto y tambien su compañero de cuarto el mio fue Connor. El es de Maryland y el es un buen amigo porque ayuda a las personas cuando no entienden algo de la computadora, eso quiere decir que el es casi un genio en tecnología. Unas horas mas tarde nos reunimos todos los estudiantes y compartimos unos excelente juegos que la Sr. Kathy nos preparo para que nos conosierasmos un poco mas. Y finalmente nosotros regresamos a nuestros cuartos para descansar a las 10:30pm para poder estar listos el otro dia.
