Biography:

My name is Georgia Lucas. I am 16 and I live in Golden Valley, suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am a junior at Hopkins High School. I enjoy running, cross country skiing, soccer, playing guitar, and old movies.
I was introduced to Polar Bears International through the Como Zoo, where I have been volunteering for four years. I am excited to be part of the PBI program because I think polar bears are very important to our world. In addition to being a beautiful animal and fearsome predator, polar bears can inspire an appreciation for the Arctic and a desire to protect the natural world. They are absolutely vital to the Arctic environment and without them not only is a great animal lost but a whole ecosystem is devastated.
Because I care about polar bears, I care about saving them through conservation. To me conservation is important because our lives literally depend on it. As far as we know there is only one planet on which we can live, so we had better take good care of it. In five years, when I will either be in college or a millionaire supermodel (just kidding), I hope to continue to make a positive impact on the world. True, I will have contributed more trash and carbon dioxide, but I hope that I will also have done more to preserve our Earth.
Through PBI, I want to be able to work with conservationists around the world, to help motivate others to make real changes in the way we live, and to keep polar bears a part of our planet.
